How to find a home sweet home

One of the most important points to keep in mind when you are going to a foreign country is to find a good accommodation. Your room or flat is going to be your cocoon so it is obvious that you want the best for your comfort.

First of all you need to define where you want to be in the city. I recommend you to stay around the city center and not to go fare away from it : indeed you should choose a place in these districts :

- Baixa/Chiado

- Bairro Alto (be careful with this neighborhood because in some streets there are many bars, so a lot of people during the night and lot of noise...)

- Cais do Sodre (10 min walking from the university)

- Santos

- Campo de Ourique

As you are Erasmus it is better to find a sharing flat with people from all around Europe, they are going to be your new family. Moreover, this is cheaper to find a room in a big flat than a tiny flat for yourself. Indeed, you can find a room from 300 euros to 400 euros, all depending on your criterias.

Thanks to the university of Lisbon and to my researches I can advice you some links that will help you to find an apartement :

✔︎ Uniplaces : this is a website that help you find a room, this is where many owners post their property ad. Unfortunately, you can not visit the flat before renting it, and you have to pay a guarantee before getting the contact of the landlord. But, every flat is checked and verified by Uniplaces. I found my room on Uniplaces and I am disappointed, the flat is exactly as it was described !

✔︎ Facebook Group : I recommend you "Casas and Quartos em Lisboa", "Lisbon, Expat Rooms, Flats & Roommates" or "Rooms to rent / Quartos para arrendar em LISBOA", as it is a social media it is better to get contact, organize a visit, and ask questions.

✔︎ Doorm : If you want to live in a residence full of students where you share kitchen, and bathrooms sometimes, have a look at doorm website, you will perhaps notice a good accommodation.
