My personal walking tour day

After few months in Lisbon I fell in love with some places and monuments. This town is full of old vestiges of the past. Walking through its seven hills is a meeting between time and history. In fact, in this articles I decided to give you some tips and a virtual visit of my host city.

My tour starts close to where I live. In front of the Estrela's Basilica where the famous tram 28 stops. For sure you have to enter in, you will discover the mix of the neoclassical and baroque style. Freshness and colors are part of it, I advice a little break in this wonderful church.

By walk for the bravest or in tram 28, the second stop is in the city center. I already talked about the Elevador of Santa Justa : it was built from the inhabitants so they could move from one district to another, from Baixa to Chiado, without putting efforts in their legs. Now it is become a touristic attraction, but if you get the transport card you will have access to the view point with discount !

Now, you are right in the city center. Lots of streets are parallel as a chess. Unfortunately, many touristic restaurants settled here, so do not get tempted by them ! On your left is Rossio's square and on your right is the next step of the visit...

Welcome to the famed Praça do Comercio. Ample and visited, it offers a great view on the other side of the river. The sun is always there, so if you want some sea air, you can walk along the river by foot from this wonderful place.

Then I invite you to take a stroll in Alfama, the original and the oldest district of Lisbon. You will find wonderful buildings full of colors and marks of time, but you will also meet the true inhabitants putting their clothes outside. One advice for this neighborhood : you should lose yourself in, so you can face the true color of Lisbon...
